The concept of the JPJ Miracle League Field was developed from a group of local residents who saw a need for a baseball field that allows children with mental and physical disabilities the experience of playing America’s favorite pastime.
Bennett Park in Hibbing was chosen as the appropriate site and funds were secured from the Pohlad Family Foundation and Minnesota Twins. The field quickly came to fruition with a long list of financial donations and contributions from Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB), St. Louis County, the business community and residents of Hibbing.

The field is the first handicap-accessible baseball field in the area. Spectators lined the fences for the opening event featuring speeches by the Minnesota Twins Chief Executive Jim Pohlad, two-time World Series champion Kent Hrbek and several local organizers and supporters.
