The City of Floodwood wanted to develop a trail that would connect its community over the Floodwood River with limited funds. As the City Engineer, JPJ Engineering began pursuing fiscal support from several agencies. Eventually, the City was successful in procuring grant assistance from TEA-21, and DNR Trail Funds to help offset costs for the design and construction of a 220-foot bridge and accompanying ¾ mile trail.

The final design and construction of this trail were conducted on a budget of just under $500K. Nearly 90% of the project cost was paid by grant support from TEA-21, DNR-Trails, and a St. Louis County grant.

JPJ Engineering provided:

  • Project design

  • Construction management

  • Right-of-way assistance
