Fortune Bay Resort and Casino Expansion

Tower, MN

PROJECT EXPERIENCE

As the resort and casino grew during the 1990s, the Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe desired to expand recreational opportunities for their tourists in Lake Vermilion. Their goal was to add high-quality amenities with an infrastructure system that did not jeopardize the vulnerable ecosystem of Lake Vermilion.

JPJ Engineering was procured to help with the planning and implementation of many improvements.

JPJ Engineering's team of planners, landscape architects, and engineers worked closely with the Bois Forte Reservation to site plan numerous facilities for phased construction, including an RV campground, recreational trails, marina, site amenities, and parking lot expansion. Infrastructure improvements included the addition of an elevated water tower and water system, wastewater collection and treatment, and soil stability improvements.

The Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe staff are very pleased with the many aesthetically pleasing developments, as well as the low-maintenance function of the infrastructure system, and has partnered with JPJ Engineering on many projects over the last 20 years.
