In 2013, the City of Nashwauk and Itasca County (CR 86) completed a street reconditioning project on 4 city blocks in downtown Nashwauk in a cooperative agreement. The total project cost was $362,000.

Site amenities were discussed with the city council, downtown businesses, and residents by using storyboards and sample products that would be included in the streetscape components.

Specific project components included stamped concrete street crossings, a decorative stamped concrete sidewalk ribbon curb, benches, tree gates, and decorative lighting. The project also included constructing a public parking lot for the downtown area.
